Disappointing Experience, DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY in Los Angeles.
I am an almost 30 year veteran fashion designer who has produced men's, women's and children's garments both overseas and domestically, under the banner of my own company as well as large corporations such as Levi Strauss & Co. & The Gap. While at first working with this company sounded promising, they did not come through with their commitments and professionalism was sadly lacking. In late June 2020 I sent fabric, interfacing and trims and was assured that a small batch of less than 200 facemasks was do-able. Communication was poor and my texts and emails requesting updates went ignored for days and weeks. I gave them time considering we were in the middle of lockdown/quarantine. This went on through September. (Luckily I had another seamstress working for me as I attempted to make masks/PPE to donate to healthcare professionals and shelters, as well as to sell online. A portion of my online sales go to Covid-related relief efforts.) I did receive a few texts from Isabella saying they were working on my masks and that they'd be sent soon. After emailing a Fed Ex shipping label I waited for shipping information and an invoice to make a Venmo or PayPal payment and settle what I owed. Nothing arrived. I believe they just dropped my job and decided they were not going to finish the work. I asked for them to return my fabric. This did not happen. Did they take my fabric and use it for another purpose? Why didn't they just return the fabric and tell me they had no time to do a small job like mine? To this day (November 24, 2020) I have no masks, lost my fabric and trims, and have no real understanding of what actually happened. DO NOT WORK with this company. In all my time working in the fashion industry, this is by far the most disappointing manufacturing experience, especially given we are in the middle of a global pandemic. I am still waiting for Makers Row to help figure out what actually happened and whether this company is legitimate.
