Teaming with Nonprofit Agencies Nationwide Together, NIB and its associated agencies make a difference for people who are blind, while supporting their customers and serving their communities. NIB employs more than 6,100 people who are blind, generating hundreds of new jobs and paying more than $100 million in wages and benefits to people who are blind annually. Employment is provided in the following areas: Textile Products Manufacturing. Over 28 domestic based agencies' producing complex and non-complex sewn products. Military, Government and Commercial contracts are produced by our textile producing agencies. Products include Parachutes, Army Combat Uniforms, Revised Airman Battle Uniforms, Army Improved Physical Fitness Uniforms, Air Force Physical Training Uniforms, JSLIST Bags, MOLLE Components, Pillowcases, VA Pajamas, Military T-Shirts as well as many others. Capabilities include full and extensive electronic cutting operations including full Accumark capabilities. Cutting contracts include Unicor, DLA and many commercial companies. Fully vertical cut and sew operations specializing in knits and woven products for the military and government. Product Manufacturing. Produce more than 3,500 SKILCRAFT® products such as office supplies, cleaning supplies, hardware and paints, and a wide range of products to equip the U.S. military, including uniforms, bedding and protective equipment. Service Delivery. Provide services including contract closeout, supply chain management, contact center operations, document management and administrative/technology support. Base Supply Center Operations. Operate more than 140 AbilityOne Base Supply Center stores at military bases and federal government installations nationwide. Additional programs where NIB supports people who are blind are: Rehabilitative Services. Offer rehabilitative services to more than 183,000 persons who are blind nationwide. Small Business Partnerships. Partner with small businesses, including diverse suppliers and service-disabled, veteran-owned businesses, which serve as sources of supply and channels of distribution to federal government customers. Wounded Warrior Outreach. Offer training, job placement, career opportunities and guidance with transition to civilian life for veterans who are wounded with any type of injury including those who are blind. NIB encourages and rewards upward mobility by expanding employment options at all levels. NIB's Business Leaders Program provides training and on-the-job experience to encourage professional development and prepare individuals who are blind for rewarding, successful careers in business. The program provides professional training for more than 1,000 people who are blind annually.
