About

Get access to factory contacts, industry guidance, and a proven framework as you launch your product! We've helped hundreds of makers design, source, and manufacture products across many different categories. ------- I'm Liz, a long-time sourcing expert and a mentor to product entrepreneurs of all kinds. My platform, Learn To Make A Product, gives people access to affordable, personalized guidance, industry connections, and a proven, step-by-step framework for launching a product-based business. There's SO much more to making a product than simply getting a tech pack or finding a factory. From negotiating with suppliers to implementing quality controls to things like branding, messaging, photography and fulfillment, each step of the process has has challenges, industry norms, and best practices. I know because I've done it! I went from “sewing” my first prototype together with an office stapler, to selling six-figure purchase orders to some of the world’s biggest brands. (Not without a lot of hard lessons, many of which we'll discuss in our work together.) Using this experience, I’ve helped thousands of entrepreneurs in workshops and mentoring sessions, launching everything from apparel to home goods to wearable devices and beyond! Here are some of the things we'll do in our work together: » Review your product design for both cost and user efficiency » Source vendors together for your entire supply chain, including development partners, materials suppliers, and assembly factories (USA & Overseas) » Carefully vet potential partners (according to a tested system) and negotiate prices and minimums to ensure you pay a fair price » Carry out product testing (both informal and with testing agencies) and create a quality control plan for your unique product. » Navigate packaging and labeling » Review proven cost-saving strategies and set prices » Plan logistics, including how to import or export if needed » Craft your branding and messaging so that you SELL » Make a plan for your e-commerce site, including how to get the best deal on development, photography and more » Decide how and where to store inventory (including finding a warehouse for your size) » AND MORE! Plus, you'll get intros to loads of helpful contacts in design, production, web development, photography and beyond. We also give you business templates like costing sheets, pre-production checklists and more, to make the process of getting up and running easier. Don't let blind spots and rookie mistakes trip you up. Investing in expert support can save you thousands of dollars (and hours) as you design, source, and manufacture your product. (And, you'll likely enjoy the process more.) Our expertise spans a variety of product categories, including: * apparel * home furnishings * soft goods * hard goods * bags & cases * leather goods * jewelry * kids * pet * medical * wearables * skincare & beauty AND MORE! I believe all makers deserve to get the help they need to succeed and hope you will check out the great resources on our site! I look forward to hearing from you, Liz Long PS - We offer free consults where you can get consulting help at no charge. Send us a message and we'll reply with a link.

    Liz has been a game-changer!

Starting with the first 15-minute consultation, Liz has offered me guidance and advice that I couldn't get anywhere else. She has helped me to navigate producing my product (accessory item) and making all of the decisions along the way. Having someone else's perspective who is as experienced as Liz is is priceless as you work towards making your vision into a reality. Book an intro call—Liz will help you with any roadblocks right away!
