Established in 1976, Hudson Machine & Tool (Hammond, Wisconsin) was purchased by Mike Shaver in 1993. _We didnt have a CNC (computer numerical control) machine back then,î says Shaver. _It was pretty much a manual tool shop.î Since then, the operation has grown from a staff of four to 45 employees, averaging 20 years of related experience. Today, Hudson Machine & Tool houses dozens of CNC stations and large- capacity machining capability in its 28,000-square-foot facility to produce metal and plastic parts for a variety of industries, ranging from convection tube sheets for ethylene furnaces to equipment for food services, material handling, ethanol manufacturing, heavy construction and high-speed weighing. By responding to quotation requests within 48 hours, maintaining flexibility with 24/7 production and remaining adaptable to size and detail, Hudson can serve a broad customer base in a timely manner. Hudson also operates in a just-in- time (JIT) delivery mode, when needed. _Our approach has been to carve a distinct niche,î says Shaver. _We operate without maintaining a sales force, and we work with customers who have their own design and engineering staff, so we can concentrate on machining at the highest level of excellence."
