Processing spunbond nonwoven fabrics

Two figures are indivisibly connected with the success of Freudenberg Nonwovens: Carl Ludwig Nottebohm and Ludwig Hartmann. Nottebohm was the inventor of the first Freudenberg nonwoven products, Vlieseline® lining materials and the Vileda window cloth. Since 1948, these products have undergone continuous improvement and are still bestsellers on international markets. In the mid-1960s Ludwig Hartmann devised a cost efficient solution for processing spunbond nonwoven fabrics. The method he developed allowed nonwovens to be made from granulate raw material in one continuous production process. He was responsible for Freudenberg's first commercially viable nonwoven spunbond products: sticking plaster backings, Lutrabond® tablecloth material, Lutradur® polyester carpet backing and the first PE nonwoven fabrics for hygiene applications (Lutrasil®).
