Advanced Fiber Products, (AFP), was founded as a management buyout of the Stratos International optoelectronic packaging business from the public company Emerson Electric (NYSE: EMR) in December 2007, allowing a continuation of 25+ years of excellence in the field of fiber optic technologies. In July 2009, AFP took over the manufacturing rights for Emerson Electrics video component group in Chicago, establishing AFP LLC. In 2010 AFP obtained an Expanded Beam Global VAR license from Emerson and re-entered the Harsh Environment Expanded Beam connectivity market segment.
